Holiday Weekend

Thought I'd update everyone on things as they stand. I've completed one or two more rudimentary sketches for iron lung as it stands. but here's a few tidbits of fun information about this past week, and my goings ons on this holiday weekend.

Over the past week i have:
  • Started classes here at ringling
  • Given my poetry teacher chills when I read "the Blade" aloud in class (proud moment :) )
  • started web design class, which looks to be pretty interesting. designing a website for class using the band Flogging Molly.
  • Started taking Acting class at school, which is really fun and amazing.
  • Started management of an art/design business class, which will help me in the future
  • all that along with starting working at staples and trying to find time to hang out with friends is putting a strain on the art side of things.
  • I tied my shoes in a Checkerboard Configuration (photo soon)
For this holiday weekend I plan to:
  • Have fun
  • Relax. hopefully go to the beach for the first time here in sarasota this school year.
  • Going to see pineapple express today around noon, I've really been wanting to see it but haven't had time or found someone to go with.
  • Work on my art again. I plan on furthering the iron lung concept as well as drawing some just general random characters for fun.
  • get a jump start on my school work.
Overall I've been keeping busy, and Its been good. No women in my life as of yet. so Thats not too bad. haha. definitely a plus for my Spare time and Wallet factors, but its always nice to have someone close. **shrug** I'm not stressing the fact, just live life and things will shift into play sooner or later.

Well that is all for now guys and gals. I thank you for reading and keeping up with me!

Iron Lung, First Sketches

First Couple Sketches. Thanks for being patient. More to come. Been very busy with Orientation.
Add ImageSketch of an Eye for Iron Lung, just brainstorming. very quick speedy sketches.
Quick sketch, while listening to a few dark/machine-like songs. This sketch was to just get an overall view of the size and stature of Iron Lung. That is why he does not have any of the metal housings included in the sketch.

Uploading today

Printer Problems. Fixing today. Will upload a bit more previous works as well, to make up for all the trouble in the past week or so.

The wait is over, and an explanation for you all!

Hey all,
I apologize for the last time about how slow its going. this time it was not me though. haha. the IT department at Ringling College Shut down the entire internet as a precaution for TS/Hrcne Faye. I just got access again today.

In that period of severe lack of mind-numbing video sites and facebook withdrawl though, I did a few very quick sketches of the overall form of Iron Lung. I will post them shortly (should be later today) after I get my Printer all set up again, and scan the images in.

Once again I appreciate your patience in this crazy past 5 days or so. I will continue working on More Iron Lung sketches, though most of my time will be occupied by my Freshman Orientation duties here at school. Seems to be a good group of Freshman coming into Ringling this year so should be enjoyable!

Thanks again!

Thanks for waiting. sorry for the down time

Hey guys, thanks for being patient. I'm almost moved in and I swear to you I did start sketching Iron Lung, but unfortunately my manager used the paper I drew it on to write down information about a customer coming in for Tech support and then kept the paper. didn't think about it until I had left, and it was my last day. rofl.

Anyways, I am going to begin drawing again probably on monday when my mom leaves town after helping me move in, and I've got some down time to do it.

Once again, thank you for being patient!

IRON LUNG: The Intel

The Intelligence covering the serial killer at large using the alias "Iron Lung".

REAL NAME: *unknown*
Height: 6'6"
Race: White/Caucasian
Build: Athletic
Defining Features: Large metal housing surrounding parts of the suspects body, specifically his pectoral chest region.
KNOWN ALIAS': Iron Lung, metal breath.
WARRANTS: Assault, attempted murder, Murder in the 1st degree, armed robbery, impersonating an officer of the law, defacing government property, Kidnapping, false imprisonment.
KNOWN LOCATIONS: (don't have a city name) urban centers, Mainly alleyways near bars or gentleman's clubs.
OF NOTE: Suspect is extremely irritable and short tempered, yet methodical in his actions. all officers to be warned, Suspect, though large in build and height due to metallic body modifications, is very adept in the arts of stealth.

Now that I've had my fun. Here's the Back-story as far as the concept for the villain Iron Lung is concerned. A veteran of the war, and a retired marine, (real name) is driven to a rage filled madness when he is told he will have to live the rest of his life confined in an iron lung if he wishes to live to see 50, In his unfathomable rage he builds an iron-lung-suit/apparatus that will keep him alive indefinitely, and still allow him to move around freely. upon completion of his life saving machine, he expects to feel triumphant and happy, But instead he feels the same claustrophobic feeling. He soon realizes that, even though he is mobile, he is still condemned to this metal demon the rest of his life. He slips into depression, and becomes suicidal, but he cannot bring himself to end his own life. He has spent so much time and effort into prolonging it. He struggles in his bottomless depression, not wanting to live, unable to kill himself. Soon He slowly begins to slip into madness. In his ever growing derision, (real name)'s sadness is happily Replaced with rage. In his madness he seeks revenge against this cruel, tasteless, uncaring world.
Three weeks later, Dr. Timothy Collins, the doctor who had sentenced (real name) to his Metal Hell, is found murdered. It had been two weeks since he had been reported missing. Dr. Collins legs had been broken due to blunt force trauma, and the Dr. had then been forced into a metal box roughly just large enough for the docter to sit in provided his legs had greater. . . flexibility than normally humanly possible. Dr. Collins was unconscious during the ordeal, waking up inside what soon became his metal coffin. The Coroner Estimates that he would have died in roughly 2.5 minutes had it not been for the small holes punched into the metal box that read "welcome to hell, take two breaths and expire in the morning". That was Iron Lungs First murder.
He has commited over 40 like murders since, all involving the victims being confined to very small spaces, and given a dwindling supply of air to breath. In every case he has etched/cut/engraved/or burned a message into the contraptions used to confine his victims. Some of the most notable ones, including the quote found at the Collins murder, include: "You need a little more Iron in your diet", "welcome to the 8th level of hell" and the infamous Fr. Wade Murder quote "Contritio, Denego, excessum", or Contrition, Denial, Death.

More to come on the origins and actions of the Suspect known as Iron Lung, including sketches and drawings, when Police can gather more information on him.

IRON LUNG: The Introduction

*The immense figure steps from the darkness, sneering at you as his single mechanical eye zooms to focus on you. the man puffs on his cigar. The ash burning bright illuminating his piercing stare upon you*

Hehehehehehe Well look what we have here! - He exclaims in a Raspy voice. the churning of gears can be heard as his accordion like metal chest expands and compresses, as small vents shoot steam into the air.

Irun Lung's the name fella, and you just fell into a level of hell that no literature or religious zealot could ever begin to fathom. Its just you and me now, and If I were you, I wouldn't trust me.

Iron Lung Cracks a demonic grin, matched only by the likes of stalin or Mussolini as he takes another long puff from his cigar, causing his iron chest to wheeze and pick up speed momentarily.

You attempt to take a step towards the other direction, but before you can even shift your weight to turn you feel hard cold steel collide with your face. You spin around violently as your body ragdolls, your eyes fixate on Iron Lungs Phelpsian grin, vision blurred by the blood dripping into your eyes. The world quickly fading as you hit the gritty alley pavement.

Sleep 'Tight' hehehehehehe

Villainy is afoot!

Okay, I was relaxing in the shower today after work when two ideas for villains struck me out of nowhere. I've decided I enjoy them so much that they aren't just some passing fancies. I am going to sketch them out, concept them, give them backstories, the whole kit, and I'm gonna update you on my progress using the 25th! I figure I have this blog to show you my works, but what fun is it if Its just a gallery of finished works? thats not a blog, professional or otherwise, thats a phot gallery! the 25th is not going to just be a pretty photo gallery. haha. So here it goes. In my next post I will introduce to you the First of two villains that you and I will introduce unto the world.

are you ready for it? cuz here he comes!

**large very heavy sounding footsteps slowly get louder as a dark figure, massive in comparison to his surroundings from what you can tell by seeing just his silhouett, tromps closer and closer to you**

THE BLADE

The second installment of poetry. again, written for my creative writing class in high school. Personally, I consider The Blade as my best work out of everything i've written up to this point. It was the only poem that actually gave me chills when I first proof read it. Its dark, and blunt, and stings a little. ENJOY!!! lol.

THE BLADE

Twenty-one centimeters of tactical terror
Bringing dignity back to death.
For there lies no honor in lead,
No glory found in a gunstock.

The bullet simply passes through
like hot-blooded vagabond;
There is no lasting relationship.
You can divorce a bullet.
But I, I am a thorn
Eternally embedded in your side;
A splinter under your fingernail;
An inebriated party guest who just won’t hit the trail.

My methods are personal, And I like it that way.
Centuries of warfare made way for the potent perfection
That is my blade, so sharp, so unforgiving
As it parts the flesh
Like butter.

But here, here there’s no such thing as a hot knife.
No, only unforgiving fury and
Cold.
Cold
Spreading
Slowly,
As the chill,
The sinister arctic chill
Runs throughout,
as you dilate
And die.

No, No memories of mother
Or baby’s first steps.
Just the chill,
The chill,
The chill,
As you
Fade

To

Black

PARIAH

I want to start out with some fun. This poem is a Ballad written for my creative writing class senior year of high school. I really enjoy reading it every time. its dark, yet deserved. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

PARIAH

A warrior adorned in mail
Sits high atop the hill
His love hath left him for a Swede
Who now he plans to kill.

A slash of steel upon his mail
Quickly turns into dread
A cry of woman’s agony
Her lover lies now dead.

“How could you strike my dearest down?
And leave him now to rot.
Hath you no heart?” This woman said.
The warrior said naught.

He stared at her with fiery eyes,
With scorn, his hands did clench.
“I’ve had no heart since you left me,
You worthless little wench.

I’m nothing but a pariah.
You’re no longer a dove.
A downright whore is all I see,
Now that I’ve lost my love.”

With this he turned and lumbered away,
His mistress still in shock
Both men she loved now dead to her
her clock had ceased to tock

She walked a ways to the cliffs edge,
Body completely numb
She leaped into the freezing wind
To hell she hath now come.

Here Comes the Pain

Alrighty. Now that I've uploaded a few of my older works, I think its about time I uploaded some of my poetic works as well. Now ya may wonder why I would put my poetry on here too if its a blog mainly used to promote my artworks? Well I'll tell ya why, sheee, myah now listen here shee. In my mind, My poetry and my art go hand in hand, it is the emotions that are found in poetry that commonly influence my art. So by showing you both my poetic works as well as my artwork, You are essentially getting to see a more well rounded understanding of my mindset and process as an artist.

You see now!?!?!?! there truly is a reason why I do things, its a shock, I know. take a few deep breaths, you'll get used to it. ;)

Well, I guess I better stop babbling on and actually get some of that poetry uploaded.

*puts his hand out, motioning for you to follow*

Shall we?

Artwork pending upload

Hey there, I have as of yet, simply taking the creation process of setting up this blog one day at a time, and now that i've fought my way through the layout customization process of my move in.

Now comes the time for me to begin Uploading and posting my works.

I will begin with old works. Pieces i personally am quite fond of that I wish to post. This will include both artworks as well as poetry. From that point on I will update the blog with both my progress in current projects as well as finished works.

The first artwork posts will hit the 25th tomorrow morning and late at night ( i have work from 2-10pm) and i'll work my way through the oldies and hopefully we'll be able to move onto new works pretty soon.

Thanks,
Dave

An Introduction

My name is Dave Swanson, and I am the author of The 25th Frame. This blog is my way of revealing to the world some of my works as an artist/animator/creative writer.

I have a deep love for the creative world, and I wish to use this blog as my means to collect and organize my works, be they visual art or my writings, in one place.

If you have any suggestions/comments/critiques of my work you'd like to voice, I highly encourage you to do so. There is no way i will ever improve my abilities as an artist if no one hates/dislikes my works. I wouldn't be an artist if what I did appealed to everyones senses. If you do dislike my works, please, don't simply move on to the next piece or navigate away from my site, but take a few moments of your busy life to tell me why you like or do not like my works, and perhaps suggest ways to improve upon them. I gaurantee you that I will take them into consideration. No opinion is worthless. your voice is my guide in my journey as an artist, so let your voice be heard.

I am going to start by uploading a few of my past works that I am fond of and we will move forward from there!

Sincerely,
Dave Swanson
